DEFORMING is a double PT2399 delay with an envelope controlled warp function.

The PT2399 is a chip that was initially designed as a quick and easy way to add a delay circuit to a karaoke machine. It has been adopted by the guitar pedal community and has found its way into a plethora of different devices over the years. It has a relatively LOFI feel, especially when the delay times are pushed to extremes.

The concept behind DEFORMING was to extract as much delay time as possible without noticeable distortion whilst also having the ability to push the chip way beyond it’s intended delay times to introduce weird glitchy, noisy artefacts on demand with the push of a momentary footswitch AKA the warp function.

This newer iteration of DEFORMING has further developed the initial concept by adding an additional delay chip and a more malleable envelope to control the warp function.

The warping effect can range from subtle pitch wobbles for shoegazey chord bending through to all out cacophonous chaos at the most extreme settings.

The second delay chip can be engaged via the right footswitch and it is wired in series with the first delay chip. This allows the pedal to create interesting patterns in the repeats as the two chips bounce against each other.

The Dry Kill toggle allows you to completely remove the dry signal so that the pedal can be used on an effects send (from your mixer for example) it also allows you to create washed out soundscapes.

Deforming features an input preamp which can be driven hard to saturate the unit and emulate the preamps of old tape machines. This preamp control also helps you reduce the input volume to balance out the signal when driving the unit with loud dirt pedals.

Running Deforming into a fuzz pedal unlocks a whole world of chaos as the digital artefacts of the tortured delay chip are emphasised and amplified into melting explosions of pandemonium.

9V 'BOSS style' DC adaptor only. No Batteries.
